GET ready to get dirty, the monster trucks are headed our way.
The assault vehicles which literally weigh tonnes, will be a special event of the upcoming Fraser Coast Show to celebrate its 140th year.
Fraser Coast Show Society executive officer Rhonda McDonald said this year was going to be massive.
"This year is akin to Ekka and it will be exceptional," she said.
It's been a few years since the trucks rolled into town, but Ms McDonald was sure Fraser Coast residents were eager to see them again.
"We've had lots of likes on Facebook for this event and I think the locals are ready for it," she said.
"Aussie Thunda" will be joined by monster truck "Tassie Devil" and both will be a sight to behold in Maryborough and Hervey Bay soon.
Ms McDonald said the trucks were organised to feature at the Nissan dealerships in both Maryborough and Hervey Bay during the week.
Some children, excited at the return of the mammoth vehicles, may even be lucky enough to see them at their school.
The show, now only two weeks away, will have a variety of special demonstrations, Ms McDonald said.
This year's line-up includes a static demonstration of war memorabilia in salute to the Anzacs and an Army camp with historical infantry vehicles on display.
Show favourites including agricultural events such as the stud cattle competition, fruit and vegetables and the pigeons would also go ahead as planned.
While a variety of different pavilions and displays will be at the show, monster trucks are a huge drawcard.
During the show, the trucks will delight the audience with their manoeuvres over show cars in the centre ring.
A special prize of a monster truck ride will be raffled at the show.
Well the Indoor finals at Newcastle Entertainment centre are done and dusted in what was one if not the most spectacular indoor event ever held in Australia.
Right from the fantastic grand opening parade of Harleys, classic cars all the bikes and monster trucks under nothing but the huge follow spots and blasts of stunning pyrotechnics and giant flames the tone of the night was set.
There was not a weak truck in the whole night but the winner of the Freestyle and the stand out spectacle of the night was the spellbinding massive finale jump from the wild American Kreg Christensen, that saw the Wicked USA truck spiralling around on the concrete surface and smashing down to a sudden end.
The action was nonstop all night the Matt Schubring all stars were basically as good as any ever seen anywhere in the world this show was a winner.
The hordes of fans lined up afterwards and all agreed it certainly is hard to beat a great indoor show like this, where you are in a nice seat in an air-conditioned building away from the elements yet so close to the action and still so safe.
The show was a sell out and after the event literally hundreds were trying to buy their same tickets for next year’s event.
Tickets have not yet been put on sale for next year’s event as our main concern is we would rather not clash with a Knights football game as the town does support its NRL team very strongly.
Also we do intend on staging the two shows next year which will aim for the same weekend as this year (last weekend of the holidays) one at 3 pm and another at 6.30pm.
Our special thanks to all the management and staff from the Newcastle Entertainment Centre, Ticketek, TJM Hunter Valley, Coastal Scrap Metal, NXFM radio, Grant and Childs Vision and the local Mini Bike club and Quad club, along with Anthony Bousfield for his great photos Lisa and Shawn, Andrews and Straddie for their behind the scenes work and basically all the other people who worked so hard to help out to make this one great night.
No doubt these will be the hottest tickets out again next year so keep watching for news on when they go back on sale.

Australia's best known monster truck Outback Thunda is about to head off yet again to conquer new horizons. Thunda and Bigfoot have only just arrived back in Australia from the NEW Zealand tour, but will head back into their shipping container on Tuesday for a four week journey to ABU DHABI in the middle east. Both trucks will compete in a Nine show match race series from March 20th to 22nd period. These shows are promoted by Planet of Sports in Dubai for the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority.
Clive Featherby will drive Thunda and USA's Rick Long will head back into the driving seat in BIGFOOT.
Clive is thrilled that Thunda will be on show to a whole new audience of monster truck fans and says that when Thunda arrives back in Australia after this short visit to the Middle East, there's no resting as a very Big tour and new show is planned in Australia kicking off at the Sunshine Coasts BIG Pineapple in late May.
Australia’s number one monster truck Outback Thunda made its first ever visit into Canada lining up as one of the fourteen featured monster trucks in this year’s annual Monster Spectacular at the massive Olympic park Stadium.
The line-up that included the likes of Avenger, Bounty Hunter, Brutus, Bad Habit, Black Stallion, to name a few was held in front of a forty thousand plus mainly French speaking audience that certainly warmed to the Aussie truck.
Although Thunda suffered both rear and front steering problems and a slipping transmission the event that had no official Freestyle scoring, officials advised that Thunda was still one of the top five trucks and from this has been invited back to Canada for the Monster Spectacular held in the Quebec city arena, a very different arena to that of Montreal’s massive wide open spaces this is basically a small hockey arena where you are turning tight hard and fast, a lot like a smaller Rod Laver Arena but on Concrete.
Again Bounty Hunter Red Barron and Co will be in action so a whole new challenge fronts the Horse from Down under on Saturday May 2.5
We are really excited looks like a Aussie truck finally gets to run in Canada at the Montreal Monster Spectacular of all events.
With the likes of Jim Koehler's Avenger, Jimmy Creten's Bounty Hunter, Iron Outlaw, Brutus to name just a few in the 14 truck line up at the 60,000 seat coliseum. Thunda will certainly have the opportunity to run in the big open spaces and hopefully give a powerful showing.
We are really excited to be going up against the likes of Jim, we have a good truck and hopefully will get a few runs in here in Australia before heading over to take on some of the worlds greatest drivers, this is definitely the show that Clive has to really perform well in if he wants to get a boost in USA and further Canadian bookings.
Keep watching the website for further updates.
The latest monster truck video game which will feature Outback Thunda monster truck comes smashing and crashing into the market on December 13th, in the form of “Monster Truck Destruction” for the iOS operating system. Outback Thunda fans will be excited to learn that the game features 30 other real-world and classic monster trucks.
Currently, the game is set to be available only for iOS platforms, such as the iPod, iPhone, and iPad devices, but the Android version is already in production. The game is scheduled to launch at the bargain cost of only $0.99 on the Apple AppMarket, a remarkably low price for this first-of-its-kind game.
Players will be able to compete with 30 real-world monster trucks in both racing and freestyle competitions, held individually as well as part of a full-on points series. Realistic physics and quality, real-time damage are just two of the game’s features that will no doubt help the game appeal to fans around the world. There are slated to be five areas to upgrade your truck in (engine, transmission, suspension, etc), with three levels that are “un-lockable” by playing through the game, along with a “Super Upgrade” available that maxes out a player’s truck with “insane power” for $0.99. The game’s developer, ODD Games, has also stated that a number of “nostalgia” trucks including The Original Monster Truck®, BIGFOOT #1, will be available for purchase separately from the game for $0.99 each as well.
This is the first time Outback Thunda has been included in a video game release, to be operated on mobile platforms, an expanding market that allows players to more easily play at their convenience, rather than being tethered to a console. This, along with the fact that players can take snapshots of their exploits in the game and share them on Facebook and Twitter, will only serve to help increase the brand-awareness and sponsor exposure for the teams included in the game.
We at Monster Truck Promotions Australia, the home of Australia’s world famous Monster Truck Outback Thunda would like to welcome Lubrimaxx Australia’s only Lubricant, as our new Oil sponsor of Outback Thunda and all our other great Monster Trucks, Spot, Monster Patrol USA and Tassie Devil.
Our trucks will be making visits to many of the Lubrimaxx distributors over the coming next two years and we will see Lubrimaxx stands at some of the events and info on all of their great range of products will be available from our merchandise and at the gates at all of our shows, as well as special display stands at show society bookings.

Sunshine coast monster truck champion Clive Featherby flew out again yesterday to the USA in preparation for a battle of monstrous proportions. As he prepares to tackle round three of the Monster truck International Jamboree super series in Bloomsburg Pennsylvania.
The series dubbed as the world’s toughest competition for monster trucks is held over four venues across the USA from early May to its huge finale in Indianapolis in September and features the majority of the world’s biggest names in the monster truck industry in what is undisputedly the toughest completion to win.
In this years all star line up, in a country where the sport of monster truck racing is a multi billion dollar industry, household names such as the legend, six times World Champion, Bigfoot 18 and its off spring Bigfoot 12, along with the Dodge team trucks Ramunator and Ramunition, with World indoor champion truck Lucas Oil Stabiliser and long time legend Joe Nichter in the USA General Tire Truck are just some of the trucks that are Featherby’s opponents in the bright yellow and red Australian 3d body horse shaped Outback Thunda.
Featherby was the first ever non American to be accepted into the series and was only reluctantly given the last of the ten spots after taking out three victories out of four support shows last summer in the USA. He was certainly given no hope of being anywhere but last on the scoreboard this year, but went into the first round at Springfield Missouri with typical Aussie determination to show the USA critics that they were wrong.
In the opening race of the day he came within inches of taking victory from the outright favourite the dodge backed Rammunition and went on over the weekend to not only beat the world indoor champ Lucas oil Stabiliser in racing but come away as the overall outright winner of the all popular Freestyle completion beating the entire field for victory.
Freestyle is a competition where each truck is given three minutes each to perform as many high radical impressive jumps, cyclone doughnuts the lot, just like at a X Games motocross event, but in a four ton monster truck . This left Featherby and the Outback Thunda truck at third overall after the opening round and most of America in shock.
Two weeks later all looked great for the Lima Ohio round on the Saturday night show the Thunda truck yet again was victorious over the Lucas oil truck then came up against the master himself Dan Runte in Bigfoot in the semi final, Featherby looked to be about to pull of the shock of the day leading with just sixty metres of the 1.6 kilometre course to go when a blocked fuel filter saw him splutter to a crawl and Bigfoot fly past on the line, same fate in Freestyle on the Sunday when scoring great again a drive shaft came adrift ending Featherby run.
Now this weekend it’s the 25th anniversary of Bloomsburg in the show and shine a support event a staggering 3500 cars have entered 50,000 fans will be in attendance and the stage is set for Australia’s lone contender Outback Thunda to come back and show the true Aussie fighting spirit and take out victory over the three day event this weekend that will once again feature both racing and Monster Freestyle on all three days.
Already the USA media is caught up in the expectation of a Aussie surprise victory with Featherby and Thunda having TV commitments to the ABC show plus eight radio networks and two newspapers over the next two days in the build up, not bad considering the truck from down under didn’t even rate a mention at the start of the world’s toughest monster truck series just eight weeks ago.
Featherby flies back from Brisbane for every round and what also makes this even more exceptional all teams except Australian based Featherby are basically very heavily sponsored to contest the series and only have to travel a few hours to each event, Clive struggles to fund each event costing him approximately $60,000 per round without the support of even a minor sponsor Action starts this Friday night at Bloomsburg State fairgrounds from 7pm.

Round one of the Lucas Oils 4 wheel Jamboree Nationals series has come and gone at the Ozark county fairgrounds in Springfield Missouri, with the Dodge team truck Rummunition taking out the Racing honours over the weekend and Dan Runtes Bigfoot 18 the undoubted victor in Freestyle on all three contests over the two days.
Outback Thunda made a very solid start almost taking a surprise win over Ramunition in round one of racing, losing out literally by a few feet just to come back as the fastest loser to meet up against Runte in Bigfoot and again storm out into the lead to once again blow the lead on the very last corner of the reverse S course sliding out to Give Bigfoot the win.
In Freestyle every truck went huge on the opening show, Thunda knew the only way was to go big early, a decision that was to see the truck in amassive high flying leap off the side on positioned car that would see both tires blow and flatten two rims. Thunda out after just four big air jumps in Freestyle contest number one.
The evening show came with the unfortunate news that racing had been cancelled due to the late finish of the Mud bog cars.
Thunda and Bigfoot were the last two trucks to run in the ten truck line up and again Thunda went out very hard this time clearing the big mud pit but, already suffering transmission problems a full on doughnut would fry what was left of the tranny that now only had first gear and next hit over the truck stack was Thunda's demise blowing a show through lack of pace ending his run for the day.
Runte came out and hit the truck stack several times producing big air jumps as high as any world finals show or any monster truck event ever seen anywhere else in the world, tonight he and the new Bigfoot 18 truck we in a class of their own the absolute undisputed champions.
Sunday a new day Thunda up early a good wash, new Coan transmission, new Racesource Left shcok, new Patrick rear steering ram, just some of the replacements made ready for the afternoon action.
Clive came out all guns firing in the first race of the day easily accounting for Booby Holman in the Indoor champion truck Lucas Oils Stabiliser truck.
Next round he drew Runte in Bigfoot yet again made the start got to the corner first was leading comfortably then blew it again on the next corner, racing over for Thunda for the day.
Freestyle and Thunda out to make amends and this time he certainly did, hit the truck stack numerous times with force cleared the mud pit landing sideways on two wheels big doughnut then straight into a not normally seen Reverse doughnut plenty of other decent air jumps sees Thunda end in a top end placing for the day which was again taken out by Runte.
Now its on to Lima Ohio its time to better the performance of Springfield and take a few more wins roll on May 18.
Thanks to support from Powermaster and Paul Shafer Motorsports.
Clive heads back home this week after a very successful three venue tour with Outback Thunda.
The first Show at Dupage where Outback Thunda won two out of three events. Winning both Sky Wheelie and Freestyle at the 7pm show. Loosing in racing that was so close, the crowd was asked to decide the winner with a cheer off.
Second week end saw Clive and Thunda head to Sevierville for a two show stop. This was going to test Clives skills with some great trucks and drivers Outlaw Clydesdale: Bennett Clark, Predator: Alan Pezo, Pouncer: Dale Mitchell, Monster Patrol: Charlie "Rooster" Miller, Outback Thunda: Clive Featherby, Black Knight: Brian Kenny, Monster Bear: Kid KJ, Tiny Might: Hillbilly
Night one results:
Wheelie Contest: Alan Pezo in Predator launched his truck for the win.
Racing: THE ROOKIE WINS! Brian Kenny wins racing in Black Knight in only his second show driving the truck.
Freestyle:OUTLAW CLYDESDALE driven by Bennett Clark wins Freestyle just edging out Clive Featherby in Outback Thunda.
Night two Results
Wheelie Contest: Alan Pezo wins in Predator
Racing: Brian Kenny comes through with a SECOND win in Black Knight!
Freestyle: Predator and Alan Pezo wins by a narrow margin after an incredible freestyle by the man from down under Clive Featherby in Outback Thunda. But even with Featherby's reverse jumps and awesome air, Predator won over the home state crowd with major air causing the FCC to request he gets a pilot license.
Weekend three saw a very wet track, but Clive didn't dissapoint. Taking out both Racing and freestyle.
Clive has admitted that Thunda's motor needs some work to bring up the horsepower so he can match it with the US trucks.
Thunda's next show in the USA is a big one. October 1st at the silverdome. With a huge line up of trucks, Clive is really looking forward to it.
Monster trucks finally roared back into Gold Coast Parklands sixteen months after
Their last invasion of this great facility.
EMT events presented Five racing monster trucks and unveiled the new look Buster the
rides truck formerly known as REX to the Qld community which was met with a definite
seal of approval.
Following introductions the Monster truck side of the show got under way with the two jump per truck Sky wheelie contest there were some excellent performances by the top three and in reality Jaye Featherby actually performed the best real wheelie walking the TAZ truck completely across the cars but it was never going to match up to the high flying jump of Kreg Christensen in Raptors that saw the entire back of Raptors Rampage completely torn off and the truck very nearly over backwards into the cars results for Sky wheelies.
1st Raptors Rampage Kreg Christensen
2nd Samson USA Clive Featherby
3rd TAZ Jaye Featherby
4th Batman Gordon Buscal
Upon Garcia’s disqualification Kreg Christensen did bring Scooby out for some exhibition jumps in this section and performed very well once again driving Scooby Freestyle was always going to be hotly contested between Christensen and Featherby, without doubt Kreg the more experienced and superior driver acknowledges that he has the Aussie crowd to win over as well as beating Featherby, Featherby has never lost a Freestyle run in the Tour of destruction series since selling the trucks to EMT last July, Gold coast was made more challenging for the drivers as they had to stay on the sand track area and not damage the grassed areas in the end it was Featherby and Samson over Christensen in Raptors however Featherby did blot the copy book driving up on to the cars after he had completed his freestyle run THEN slashing the right rear tyre on one of the crush cars, Jaye and Taz performed very strongly especially as Jaye had just had his broken wrist cast removed a few days prior.
Freestyle results
1st Samson USA Clive Featherby
2nd Raptors Rampage Kreg Christensen
3rd Taz Jaye Featherby
4th Batman Gordon Buscal
5th Scooby Doo Troy Garcia
A reasonable Easter crowd of around 4800 spectators were on hand to watch what was a good night of Monster fun.
EMT now rolls on the NSW country town of Armidale for the next exciting battle on May 14 where Kreg Christensen has told Featherby he is going to hand him his backside on a platter, Featherby publicly retorted by offering Christensen driving lessons so expect real Monster Fireworks as the War on wheels continues at Armidale.
Monster truck fans attending this weekend’s Monster Nationals at the Sears Centre Arena in suburban Chicago will be in for a treat as, for the first time ever, an Australian monster truck and driver will be competing in a U.S. event. Australian monster truck pioneer Clive Featherby will take on E3 Spark Plugs Bigfoot, Lucas Oil Stabilizer, Heavy Hitter, Chalkboard Chuck and Star Marshal in his Outback Thunda machine.
Australian Clive Featherby will make his U.S. competitive debut this weekend in Outback Thunda III.
Following the sale of Clive’s Extreme Monster Trucks Australia promotion company last fall, the newest version of Outback Thunda was shipped to the United States and is being housed out of the Paul Shafer Motorsports shop in Indiana. Clive is actively seeking to book the truck as he looks to see how he stacks up against the best in the United States.
Clive will be flying out of Brisbane on Thursday and will take part in the media day on Friday morning in preparation for the weekend’s competition. It will be Clive’s second ever time in the newest version of Outback Thunda, after having his Brisbane South Pacific World Finals III effort was cut short after only about 30 seconds in the truck.
Clive is very excited about the opportunity to race in the U.S. and very thankful to Family Events for the opportunity. The team, with mechanic Barry Gaunt is looking forward to a solid showing this weekend and also to future events in the U.S. over the course of the season.
